Guided Walk - Welburn and the Castle Howard Estate

A circular moderate walk of approx 6 miles that starts and finishes in the small attractive village of Welburn, which is situated amid gentle, rolling hills between York and Malton, 1.5 miles from Castle Howard. Pretty stone cottages line the main street which has a village pub serving food and a tearoom. The walk is mainly on cart tracks with the occasional incline but nothing too serious. The walk goes around the Castle Howard Estate and by the Temple of Four Winds. View the Mausoleum (burial ground of the Howard family and ancestors), cross the New River Bridge (ancient bridge), and by a Pyramid. Our walk leader today is Jill Fothergill. Walk starts from the Crown and Cushion pub in Welburn at 11am. Park in the big car park behind the pub or along the village streets. Don't forget waterproofs and walking shoes or boots, sandwiches and a drink. £5.00
